Well, we had a blast! KIDS RULE!

The weather was right; the route, the crowd, the spirit of the ride were all perfect.

Thanks to everybody who came out  for today’s Kidical Mass ride (headcount was well over 50 participants). Here are a few views of the day:

The ride started at Palmer Square with face-painting and bike & helmet decoration activities.

Then after parading around Palmer Square’s bike & walking path we headed off into the streets. Streamers whipping, balloons whirling, bells dinging and flags flying. Headed down to Humboldt Park and did the paths in and around the lagoon, the bird sanctuary and the Field House, as well as portions of Munoz Drive.

Then it was back through the neighborhood streets passing right by the site for the new playground at Albany & Bloomingdale that is going to be built this summer. This  will be the first developed access point to the elevated tracks that is being proposed as The Bloomingdale Trail, a crosstown bike path and walking park (a project that will take many more years to be fully developed.)

Finally we headed back to Palmer Square for more playtime, relaxation, music, and soaking up the sun at the bunny playground. Those who want to join in the ride next weekend please email us at artworksdesign@ameritech.net or check out the event details in the previous post that has all that information.

See you in the parks and in the streets…
